ATL uses its expertise to build capacity among identified communities or entrepreneurs to establish low-cost nurseries. This is done in collaboration with other stakeholders who have a grassroots reach.
ATL trains and supports community groups and entrepreneurs to establish low-cost satellite nurseries. In providing these services, ATL undertakes the following;
- Assists communities/ entrepreneurs to evaluate and adapt diverse tree species that are suitable for their agro-ecological zones.
- Assists in the introduction of new varieties and technologies through mobilization, sensitization, and training of community groups. This includes training nursery management, good agronomic practices, orchard and woodlot management, appropriate harvesting practices as well as entrepreneurship in tree and fruit enterprises.
- Engages in monitoring and evaluation initiatives to ensure maximum impact and high success rates of established woodlots, orchards or forests.
